The Deadline Express Couriers digital countdown billboard, created by Colenso BBDO, did indeed self destruct live on Sunday at 6.00 pm (NZ time) as promised.

1) "Netsite"? Pretty sure that's not a real word, thanks Granddad.
2) "Live feed" usually means something better than a very slow slide show.
3) Could they have chosen a more depressing location for the Billboard? Makes Auckland look like an industrial wasteland.

Can't wait to see the billboard burst into flames though!

Auckland is an industrial wasteland.

You find me a good coffee shop that stays open past midnight in Auckland...

Feels like advertising is turning into many cunning stunts these days to get attention.

Does this mean that if Deadline Express Couriers don't deliver on time their vans will explode?

You fellas haven't seen Galaxy Quest - don't you know the ticking time bombs always stop with 1 second to go.

Hmmm... I see it's already on the best ads website. I would have waited until the explosion... unless there isn't actually going to be one... is it going to be done in post? or with internet trickery...

the website phot seems to be updated every minute or so... so how are we going to be able to see this live? i'll bet there will be a photo of the billboard... and then a minute later a photo of nothing... as if you got resource consent to blow up a billboard... sounds to me like another stunt that never happened.

yeah - I can't see this one getting resource consent, imagine the 111 calls they would get. A lot of hype for potentially a big let down??

If this idea has been a billboard promoting Mission Impossible the movie. it would have been better. Kind of feels like 'got to do a self destructing billboard for someone. Who else can we find.'
But hats off. If you have a job where you can get someone else to pay for you to blow up shit that is pretty cool.

What's new about this?
Didn't some agency blow up a navy battleship off the coast of Wellington as part of a Telecom promo a couple of years ago? It made big news everywhere from what I remember.
