PUBLICIS MOJO, SAATCHI STAFF SHAKEUP

The rumours have been flying thick and fast over the last couple of days about retrenchments and/or changes at both Publicis Mojo and Saatchi & Saatchi. In the case of the former, one source says at least a dozen staffers have been let go, but we expect details on this from ECD Nick Worthington soon. As to Saatchi's, it appears a senior creative team has resigned to take up a gig in Sydney, but is being replaced, and other staff may or may not have left, with exact details expected later today.

It will be interesting to see how Saatchis try and turn this around so people think its a good thing. O'sullivan is good at that.

But the truth is, all those great creatives resigned all around the same time for a reason.

Over 4 hours since this was posted and hardly a comment...is that because most of the tossers on this site are from the mentioned agencies??? Makes you wonder.

The problem is they can not meet global profit demands. (10-15%) Simple as that really, so they lay staff off to cut costs to increase profit to bottom line. So then management can get there little bonus.

Staff are the most expensive thing to an ad agency second to letting industry standards drop like creative fees. Like when have they gone upward in nz?

You might have heard the odd kiwi saying " we can do it cheaper in and around pitch time"

Oh almost forgot- agencies don't pay also.

1. Super
2. Bonus to staff other than management
3. Share options (they all are global companies, so why not)
4. Inflation pay increases.

So if you have not had a pay increase in 3 years you salary is worth 10-12% less today. So you actually had a pay decrease.

But they do give staff the odd car park. Cool if you are the car.

There's are few christmas tips for creatives when they have pay reviews in the new year.

Ah Christmas. The traditional time for peace and goodwill among men.

And for agency chiefs to lay off a bunch of people.

So why?
Are these 'pushed' because of the numbers, or 'jumped' because there's something rotten in the state of sisimo?

curious

Matty and Dave are going to Droga 5. And I hear Stacey and Rosita are going to 180. That would be the same Rosita who was doing shit ads for Sanitarium 18 months ago. You can slag it to your heart's content, but I personally wouldn't mind a job there. Saatchi may have its faults, but you can't deny Mike and Toby's ability to nurture great talent.

Perhaps the very concept of agencies as we know them are a dying thing. Are they in fact as John Key put it so well about the Labour party, walkmans in the era of the ipod?

Rosita is an absolute star. Good on her for being young, hard working and driven. She deserves the opportunity. Shit ads are not her style.

A. No-one's making 10-15% these days unless the media commissions are rollin' in.

B. So what's happening at Publicis?

To 9.47pm.

A. No one is making 10-15% anymore unless media is in - How stupid can you be.

B. Spell it backwards...then you'll get the answer
